John Denver was a superstar singer who touched millions through his songs of pop-folk and many of them located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He fell in love Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's state anthems have inspired people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame, said: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado in the same way as John Denver." In 2011 Denver was chosen as the first Hall of Fame inductee. Denver has been the symbol of the state to everyone around the world. When I travel, I always come across someone on the opposite end of the planet, someone from New Zealand and you say "I'm of Colorado and the first word that comes that comes out of their mouths is Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short time in folk group was Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it using Johnny Cash's songs with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver realized from the first time he heard early versions that the song would be a big popular. Danoff recorded the song just a few days following having performed in Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
